Ouya game overview : Echoes of Eternia (EoE)

Echoes of Eternia is exactly what i think if someone says to me “fantasy RPG”.
The question is: can a classic RPG game satisfy the public of Ouya videogamers?
The answer is : maybe. I think so. Nowadays, there are many examples of old video games remake : we remember Rayman, Monkey Island, Legend of Zelda (and lots of Pokemon games). Today's videogamers seems to appreciate the effort of developers to make good products, trying to balance the old game appeal and the new graphic and development techniques.
But... Let's take a look at the game. Echoes of Eternia is the umpteenth project born thanks to Kickstarter.com, where it reached about $43,000, more than four times the original goal.
The project home page says “Echoes of Eternia is a classically influenced, yet modernly designed, RPG video game. It embodies the essence of old school gaming”. The comparsion with Final Fantasy III (another upcoming game to be released on Ouya) is inevitable. Unfortunately, there still are not many basis to comparsion, basically because it's difficult to judge a RPG game without knowing the story, graphics and sound compart (all that we know is that FFIII it's a hard opponent). The most important features of the game, according to what they say on the project homeapage :

  • 30+ Hours of gameplay. ( Not including all Side-Quests )
  • Active Turn Based Battle System. Ex: Final Fantasy
  • Highly tactical Battle System. Focuses on player enhancements and Elemental weakness/resistances.
  • No random encounters! All enemies will be present on screen and it is up to you to decide whether you fight them or not.
  • Complex puzzle solving.
  • Emotional and Compelling story line. ( Details coming soon )
  • Gorgeous hand drawn battle sprites for Players and Enemies.
  • Completely original soundtrack.
  • Fully voice acted. ( Only in cutscenes, not for general text. )
  • High Quality 32bit Goodness!
  • PC exclusive. ( see FAQ section for more details )

So.. If EoE is a PC exclusive, why i'm writing a post on this blog about it? Because of this.

There are only two screenshots, and developers assure do not reflect the final product.

We found also those two pictures on DeviantArt account of Melissa Hui Wang, member of development team and a few youtube videos with the main music themes of this game (not bad)
